Microbiology 409 (UBC) – After completing Biology 535 – Teaching and Learning in the Life Sciences in December of 2008, Dr. Steven Hallam, the course instructor for Microbiology 409 – Microbial Genetics requested my assistance in evaluating the course curriculum for MICB 409. Specifically, I assisted in reviewing the course goals and specific learning objectives for each lecture (Goals & Learning Objectives), the relevance of the content to these objectives and to the course goals overall (Syllabus), as well as in recommending applicable active learning strategies in the classroom, and considering how best to design assessment and evaluation strategies for this course.
